Snow loved Saturdays. Every Saturday morning, she walked four blocks to the public library with her grandmother. The library had tall windows, soft chairs, and the best books in the whole town. Snow could check out six books at a time with her library card.

This Saturday, something was wrong. Snow opened her backpack and dug to the bottom. She moved aside her water bottle, her notebook, and a half-eaten granola bar. Her library card was gone.

"Grandma, I can't find my card," Snow said. Her face felt hot. She had picked out three new books and stacked them on the counter. The librarian, Ms. Chen, smiled gently.

"Don't worry, Snow. I see you here every week. I can look you up by your name today. But let's see if we can figure out where your card went."

Snow closed her eyes and tried to remember. The last time she used her card was last Saturday. After the library, she and Grandma had walked to the park and shared a sandwich on the bench by the fountain.

"The bench!" Snow said. "I think it fell out of my pocket at the park."

After the library, Snow and Grandma walked to the park. They checked under the bench. Nothing. Snow's heart sank. Then Grandma pointed at the ground near the fountain. Something small and shiny was wedged between two stones. It was Snow's library card, a little dirty but still good.

Snow wiped it on her shirt and held it up. "Found it!" She hugged Grandma. The books, she thought, would taste even better this week.
